After last two successive successes, Alba Berlin has recovered a defeat in the Euro league. On Friday night, the German champions underlined the table penultimate Panathinaikos Athens after a slump in the second half with 67:82 (43:43). Alba stays after the ninth defeat in the 14th game in the table cellar. Best Berliner Werner were Marcus Eriksson with 18 and Oscar da Silva with 13 points.
Trainer Israel Gonzalez had to do without the attacked Center Christ Pomade, but Eriksson was fit again. Surprisingly, captain Luke Sigma was missing again. The game developed in the first quarter to a true catering shooting. Panathinaikos met many of his distant powers and so was Alba center of the section 8:17.
Three-specialist Eriksson ensures the lead
But the Berliners held, especially in the form of three-specialist Eriksson. At the beginning of the second quarter Alba then also defended better and with an 18: 4-run, the guests went for the first time and moved up to 43:34 away. Before the break, there was nothing more and the hosts released against a hard Athens cover.
Nine futile triple experiments
And even after the side change, the Berlin Wurfpech continued. In the third quarter landed at nine experiments no single spacer in the basket. And so Alba ran after a backlog behind. The Berliners could be very impressed by the very physical playing style of the Greeks. In the final phase, they had nothing to contrast.
